Mom's Sugar Cookies
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted if clumpy
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/2 cup flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Cream together the sugar, butter, extracts and egg. Sift the dry ingredients together in a separate bowl and slowly add to the sugar mixture until well blended. Refrigerate until firm. Roll out on a lightly floured board to 1/4 thick and cut in delightful shapes. Bake 7-8 minutes at 375 degrees.
